Six tips to follow to live a clean life and maintain clean, healthy skin.
Wash or Switch Your Pillowcase Every Week
You should wash it extremely often – experts say that at least once a week is recommended. If you have especially sensitive skin and are prone to breakouts, you should also be careful of the detergent you utilize. Try to go for fragrance free products and to avoid fabric softeners. Frequent wash cycles might be considered annoying but it’s important.
Your Bed Sheets Are Germ Magnets
Did you know that the average person will spend 33% of their life in bed? Did you know we shed between 30,000 and 40,000 skin cells every hour? Did you know that there are 4 to 17 different species of fungi which can be found on your bed sheets. There was a study conducted that showed that after 1 week of unchanged sheets, there was 24,631 more bacteria on them than a bathroom doorknob. So, wash them at least once a week, more frequently if you can!
Wash Your Towels
As a rule, you should wash your towels once a week and your washcloth a couple times a week. If you're unwell, you should wash them more frequently to avoid bacteria and infection.
Wash Your Make Up Brushes
Be sure to wash your makeup brushes at least once a week. For powder blush and eyeshadow, once every two weeks is preferable. Dirty makeup brushes can wreak havoc on your skin and cause way more damage. They accumulate sebum, impurities, pollution, dust, product buildup, and dead skin cells.
Limit Bath Time
Now this one seems as a little counter-intuitive considering how much we have hammered cleanliness at you but did you know that hot water and long showers or baths remove oils from your skin? Limit your bath or shower time and use warm instead of hot water. Avoid strong soaps that can strip oil from your skin, instead, opt for mild cleansers. When finished showering, be sure to gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin. Lastly – moisturize your skin to keep it soft and protected.
Live a Clean Life
Avoid stress, smoking, and fatty diets. Focus on better eating, better sleep, and more relaxation techniques.
Keep your nose… & the rest of you clean!
